Unlike hotel cancellations (which can be asynchronous), flight cancellations return upon process completion. ## Use case This endpoint can be used as part of your flight booking application. The request initiates the cancellation process with the airline and returns upon the process completion. ## Key parameters | Parameter | Type | Required | Description | | ------------- | ------ | -------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- | | `booking_uid` | string | yes | The unique booking identifier of the reservation to cancel | ## Response structure The response confirms the cancellation with: * `status` — updated reservation status (`cancelled`) * `booking_uid` — the cancelled booking identifier * `cancellation_reference` — airline cancellation reference number (if applicable) ## Important considerations > **Warning** > > Before cancelling, always verify the fare's cancellation policy via `get_reservation_details`. Non-refundable fares or fares outside the cancellation window may incur penalties or be ineligible for cancellation entirely. * Cancellation fees depend on the airline and fare class * Some low-cost carrier fares are non-refundable * NDC content (Travelfusion) may have different cancellation timelines than GDS content * Once cancelled, the action cannot be reversed — the user must rebook if needed > Cancels a flight reservation.
